We are thrilled to be nominated as a finalist in this year’s NutraIngredients Awards.  We are short-listed in the ‘Research Project’ category with a study demonstrating the benefits of our LactoLycopene in sperm quality.

The research showed that LactoLycopene improved sperm quality in healthy males by nearly 40 per cent. Our nutrition project entry highlighted the work we undertook on male fertility and LactoLycopene with the University of Sheffield.

The study was led by Allan Pacey, Professor of Andrology Reproduction and Dr Liz Williams, a leading specialist in Human Nutrition at the University of Sheffield. The project illustrated how LactoLycopene can make a real difference to a couple’s fertility journey.

Male fertility is an under-served area of research but one that affects couples globally.  We are now working with fertility clinics and charities to continue to address this important issue.

Lycopene is a pigment found in fruits and vegetables. Most notably it gives tomatoes their red colour and it also acts as a powerful antioxidant in the human body. It’s difficult to absorb in its raw form.

LactoLycopene, a unique, patented formulation was created after major research and development with Cambridge University Hospital NHS Trust (Addenbrooke’s Hospital).  We combined lycopene with whey protein to make it ‘bioavailable’ – much easier for the human body to absorb.  This offers a more efficient way for people to increase their intake.

LactoLycopene is a key ingredient not just in our fertility supplement, but in our cardiovascular and prostate supplements too - supported by independent scientific studies.

The NutraIngredients Awards are traditionally hosted at a gala dinner within Vitafoods Europe, a key global event for the Nutraceutical industry.  The event has been postponed during these uncertain times, but the awards have moved online.

We are one of four short-listed companies in our category and the winner will be announced on the 13th May 2020.
