Sharing our business journey with student entrepreneurs
Our CEO, Adam Cleevely, recently shared his fundraising experiences with an international class of MBA students at the Judge Business School, part of the University of Cambridge.
The school is an internationally recognised provider of cutting-edge management education, encouraging critical reflection and creativity in the next generation of business leaders.
For several years, the Centre’s Director & Co-founder, Dr Robert Wardrop, has focused on FutureYou Cambridge as a case study in crowdfunding, to bring the subject to life for students in his Fintech Strategies course.
‘What’s particularly interesting about the FutureYou Cambridge story is how the company harnessed crowdfunding strategically and effectively to build it from a team of four to 34 in a relatively short space of time,’ says Dr Wardrop.
‘It presents a terrific learning experience for the students to have the protagonist in the case study present, to answer questions and explain the rationale, and I’m really grateful to Adam that he is taking time to put himself up for cross-questioning.’
Students attending the course are a mix of aspiring entrepreneurs and finance professionals with around six years of work experience who want to learn more about raising finance and strategic investments, and some who want to learn more about crowdfunding as private investors.
The process of raising funds to expand and make changes to a business is full of ups and downs,’ says Adam. ‘We have benefited significantly from research at Cambridge University in the development of our supplements, so I’m always happy to share my experience with students to help the entrepreneurs of tomorrow.’
